My family loves southern comfort food, part of the reason the Keto diet isn't always easy for us. Thankfully, we are finding more and more ways around that. Like this, for example, Keto biscuits and gravy. I wasn't too sure about it, because I was sure it would taste nothing like the real thing, but surprisingly, it did! You have to try this! Plus, it only has 3 g net carbs per serving!
Here's the recipe:
Ingredients:
1 cup almond flour
1/4 tsp sea salt
1 tsp baking owder
4 egg whites
2 Tbs cold butter
1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
10 oz crumbled sausage
1 cup cream cheese (1 8-oz package)
1 cup beef broth
pepper to taste (if you like it peppery... I do!)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400*F degrees.
Mix almond flour, sea salt, and baking powder in a bowl.
Cut in the cold butter.
Beat the egg whites and fold mixture into them. It should be clumpy with butter chunks, essential for flaky biscuits.
Spoon dollops of the batter onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. It should make 8 biscuits.
Bake 11-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
While the biscuits are baking, cook the sausage in a skillet and crumble it into small pieces.
Add the cream cheese, broth, and any seasonings you want (like garlic powder or pepper).
Cook until it thickens, stirring constantly. Reduce heat.
Pour gravy over biscuits, and enjoy!
